How We Calculate the Dubai Gold Rate
Every price on this site is calculated the same way, automatically, several times an hour while the gold market is open. Here is exactly what goes into it.
1. The international gold price
Gold trades worldwide in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 grams). We take the live spot price from professional market data feeds, with automatic fallbacks so the rate keeps updating even if one feed is down.
2. Converting to dirhams
The UAE dirham is pegged to the US dollar at 1 USD = 3.6725 AED. That makes the conversion exact: the AED price per ounce is the dollar price × 3.6725.
3. Price per gram for each karat
We divide by 31.1035 to get the 24K price per gram, then multiply by the gold content of each karat: 24K = 99.9%, 22K = 91.6%, 21K = 87.5%, 18K = 75% and 14K = 58.5%. Per tola uses 11.6638 grams.
4. Indian Rupee prices
Rupee figures are the Dubai price converted at the live AED to INR exchange rate (today 1 AED = ₹25.63). They are not Indian gold rates, which also include import duty and GST.
5. Updates, weekends and history
Rates refresh every few minutes on weekdays. Global gold markets close from Friday evening to Sunday evening New York time, which is roughly Saturday early morning to Monday early morning in India. During that time we show Friday’s closing price and say so clearly at the top of each page. Every price we fetch is stored, and our price history and monthly archives are built from that record.
6. What the rate doesn’t include
Shop prices for jewellery add making charges and 5% UAE VAT. Bars and coins carry a small dealer premium. Use our jewellery price calculator for a full estimate.
